Flu update...
Feb. 17th, 2001 09:38 amBah, I hope I'm getting over this. Last night, 3AM, I woke up shivering. I turned on the electric blanket and snuggled under the covers, but I was still absolutely shaking. I woke my wife and asked her to turn on the heat (it was 74 yesterday -- heat's been off for a while). She got me some ibu and something to drink, and an extra blanket. I shivered for another hour while she was throwing blankets off herself (she, for some reason, thought it was a little toasty ;) I fell asleep in there somewhere and woke again at 6AM, sweating. I think my fever broke. My temp is normal, now.
Our cat knows something is wrong, but can't figure it out. When I say 'our' cat, I really mean 'my wife's'. He was her cat, before we met. He's part siamese, part calico, but he's a big ol' tom -- he's the size of a small bobcat. He was definately used to being the alpha male in the house before I came along. Now, I sleep on his side of the bed. He plays dominance games with me all the time and sometimes he tolerates me only because 1) he'll do anything Dawn wants and 2) I feed him. When I'm away on business, it's back to alpha male -- he patrols the house and naps on my side of the bed until I get back. Anyway, he's been very strange the last couple of days. He knows I'm sick, I think. When I'm napping, he'll snuggle up to my chest -- something he never does. He follows me around the house to keep an eye on me. It's kinda cute, actually.
Good thing cats don't catch the flu. I wouldn't wish this thing on anyone -- even a beta cat plotting to overthrow my reign as king of the house ;-)
