Holidays

Off to Florida soon. My folks live right on the Atlantic, about mid-state. I wanted to get some sportfishing in, but apparently it's pretty windy and the seas are nine feet offshore. Since I usually get explosively, suicidally seasick in three foot swells, I think I'll limit myself to surf fishing.

Historic anecdote. The first time I got seasick was on a SCUBA trip off of Key Largo. I was sitting on the front of the boat after the dive, waiting for the stragglers to get back to the boat again. Sitting on an anchored boat in three foot swells, in a wetsuit in the sun, well, a bunch of us lost it. We were hanging over the rails, projectile vomiting our breakfasts into the waves. But you should have seen all the pretty fish we attracted...

Fun Link

Here's a weather report at the Cape Canaveral weather bouy, a weather station about 30 miles offshore. I've been fishing around this bouy before...anything that stationary that far out to sea can attract some big gamefish.
