And, in the vegetable department, I sprayed this chrysanthemum-based pesticide on my tomatoes and peppers (at night so hopefully I'll avoid nuking any happy bees). I used it a couple years ago and it kept the japanese beetles from gnawing my basil to pieces, so I'm hoping it'll work against the aphids. I prefer the slightly-more-organic, but I'll use Sevin if I have to.

I can't believe I spelled chrysanthemum correctly the first time ;)

A couple of people suggested lady bugs last year when I had an aphid problem with my rose bushes.

They'd have a feast on these plants. Maybe I should put up a neon sign: Eat at PeterMarcus'! Deck Seating!

Why would bugs have a problem with chrysanthemums?

There's some sort of natural bug-repellent in the oils (is the way I heard it). I tried it a few years ago and it worked great on basil, but it almost killed my (then) wife's pea plants. I guess some plants get just as repelled. Everyone's a critic.
