So, Airtran last night told me I was confirmed on the 6:15 flight back to ATL. I get up at 4:30 and haul my ass out of a very comfortable bed with the stunning view of Boston. At least, the view of Boston was there last night. This morning, from my 7th floor view, all I saw was fog. I ride the glass elevator down to the lobby, and at about floor 3, I break out of the cloud and can see the bottom three floors of Boston across the harbor. Loooooow rainclouds.

I get to the airport, and lo and behold, I actually do not have a confirmed seat but am on standby instead. And I miss *that* flight, too. At first they tell me I'm not going to get out until noon, but the gate agent had pity on me, or got creeped out with me fuming in the seat right across from her, and got me on another flight to ATL through Baltimore. It got me in a couple hours earlier than the noon flight, and they upgraded me to business class, so I'm happy that I'm finally back home. For the next couple days. I may have to do one more in-and-out one-day Boston hop, then out to the LA Bash on Thursday, then Florida again next weekend over Easter. *checks self for feathers*

The bash is going to be an experience. I'm looking forward to meeting a bunch of you folks (and one for the second time ;) However, large, boisterous parties tend to get to me after a while. I'm thinking of hitting San Diego one of the days, probably Saturday, just to get some highway time. I got a IRL friend in Venice Beach, too, so I may do the SoCal loop. And, for some reason, Palm Springs has always been unaccountably and unexplainably fascinating for me. I may check that out -- some serious highway time for that one. I dunno. Planning has never been one of my strong points, in fact planning borders on anathema for me, so I may just go where the Santa Annas take me.

Nope, never been, just going to wing it. Probably check out the beach or something. I think the journey is the thing, ya know?

it's totally the journey, i agree. whilst journeying, be sure to go to balboa park (the aerospace museum is fantastic) and mission beach. i'm jealous. i was born in san diego, and totally miss it. have a great time.

That would be a picturesque drive. I can just imagine myself driving off the highway while looking at the scenery.

Which, Palm Springs? That's what I'm thinking, too. The city itself kinda intrigues me, from it's early Raymond Chandler-like history to the silliness of a retirement community smack in the center of a desert. But the drive has got to be a lot different from the Southeastern swamps I'm used to :)

I was thinking more so, the drive from LA to San Diego. I stayed in Oceanside one time, and the short drive to San Diego along the coast was gorgeous. I'm sure you'll have a wonderfully scenic view. Just don't drive off the highway ;)
