The funny thing is, I faked the answers.

Oh lord. *rolls eyes*

You might as well just get your table now for LJ 'bash'... you know, the one where you sit and give out autographs (on this 8x10,) and your phone number to the eight million women who will be lining up to meet cha, bring ya cookies, flash you or some other scary weird 'adoring fan' type thing.

You are WAY too trendy for me to keep reading... :9 Lemme know when you go back to your fishing-ways... :)

Do you want an 8x10? "To Sherahi, my number one fan!, XXX OOO, PeterMarcus"

Bah, it's just a joke ;-P

Good to hear from you, Sherahi. I miss your posts.

I know its a joke, its still hilarious though! Of course I'll keep reading.

My journal is pretty damn boring, I'm all wrapped up in gardening. I got another bird-boat job from friends for three weekends which should be fun. I got tipped on the last one, I think I forgot to mention that! I was like-- no no, then the staff got pissed at me, since all tips are pooled and split! Clueless here :) Its good practice for me, so I might do more summer trips, I dunno.

Do they tip on typical day long fishing trips?? I forget, its been so long...

[I think we should take bets on how many 'grrls' are gonna come up to the 'cutie boi' and flash ya and give you their hotel keys and stuff. I bet a good dozen over the event. Or more! I'm being conservative since I wanna win the bet :D ]

I'm also following the iditarod. Which is going on now. *big sigh* ... I wanna go up to alaska for the summer and just BUM around at some campsite and go salmon and halibut fishing every day in a small outboard motor boat and check out the birds and fireweed and... *sigh*

Usually on fishing trips, you tip the mate 10-20%. The Captain usually doesn't pay the mate, who is just trying to build time so he can get his own Captain's license. Most charters I've been on, there's just the Captain and the mate, and 1-6 customers (any more than 6 needs a different Captain's license, which is harder to get.) That's actually what I'm shooting for -- my "6-pack" license, but it requires something like 90 6-hour days offshore in a boat (crewing, not just playing). I'm nowhere near that now; I figure I'm on track to open a charter in my retirement ;)

And as for the Bash, there are a buncha people I really want to meet, a couple I want to meet for the second time, but I don't think the bash is gonna be quite the anarchy it's rumored to be. I'm guessing the evenings will be interesting, but I'm renting a car and I'm gonna get out of LA for at lease one morning/day, I think. As much as I like big cities, LA has never really been my thing.

Is the iditarod really going on now? This is what I get for avoiding TV and the newspapers. I'll have to check it out. I thought it was earlier in the season. *mush*

Don't say salmon! I've been in a salmon mood. Salmon sushi for lunch today, and at a restaurant Monday night, I had a 6-cheese grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough with salmon chunks in the cheese. Gooooood. I'm going home to Florida this weekend, but doubt any salmon will oblige me.

Check out www.iditarod.com ....newspeople never really cover it very much, except the end, or a video synopsis of the race including the ending. When I was there, basically everyone who was at the 'historical' start in anchorage were either media or tourists, with the media outnumbering the tourists about 5 to 1. Bizarre. And yet there was nothing published about it down here, not even CNN or ESPN, until the end.

I got my photo on the cover of the anchorage newspaper though! I HAPPENED to be at a campfire where a bunch of us were waiting for riders to come by as they went up a frozen river, about 3 days into the race. They dribbled in from 8pm to after midnight, it was very cold but wonderful to sit there with hot drinks, and watch them go by. Then we went back to a fishing lodge we had cabins at. We flew out to three different stops which was a BLAST, since you saw them running these backcountry trails from plane too, and NO tourists were around, just some media and the support teams.

It was a very unusual trip, we followed them for about four days, I collected dropped doggie booties, i'm such a geek! Put on by a wonderful company/family called 'Adventure Alaska'. We then went on to be 'trained' (ha, but I did learn a bit!) by sledders and we took our 'own' teams (once the owners felt confident, they'd insist we do all the work. I was allowed to feed and groom and harness dogs as well, which was really a priveledge, imo,) out to a frozen lake with a small cabin rental. The scenery was INSANELY GORGOUS. Oh. My. God. It was an absolute dream. And I got along fantastic with my team's owner, I did everything including running the team up hills. I had such a blast, I don't know why, but i was thrilled and had a frickin BLAST.

Salmon. Mm. Just camping and walking down to the edge of the bay, casting your line in and walking home with dinner, cutting through clearings filled with tall pink fireweed, have a crisp beer as you cook your meal over an open fire, maybe add some veggies to roast in foil, watch the stars come out... mmmmmmmm.... Oh yah.

I don't like salmon sushi. Its never very well done. I'd prefer that expensive tuna which is the sweetest cut from the belly. THAT is amazing. I do love sourdough. Its my favorite by far of breads. You should get some from Boudin next time you're in Cali... OH! Hey, look for it at the local mall when you're in LA! Its absolutely the best sourdough anywhere imo. You'll want to take a bunch home to freeze.

Ah....NOW I see your big retirement plan! Very clever. Very clever. Well done.

As for the bash, doesn't their website have that thing about eating food off of naked body parts or somethinG? Sounds.... amusing. I suppose. :)
